Patent and Trade Marks Attorney

Greg is a chemical engineer and has worked as a patent attorney with Australian SMEs for more than 35 years. He heads our Adelaide office, sits on the firm’s Pricing Committee and currently leads our International Relations Committee (including our Work Placement processes).

Greg’s broad range of engineering experience sees him active in a range of technologies, from mining, mineral processing and mechanical engineering, to general chemistry, surface coatings, optics and materials engineering. Greg also handles a broad range of trade mark work for his Australian clients.

Greg was awarded the Institute Prize by the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia for high academic achievement in his qualifying examinations.

Greg spent 12 years as an Examiner for the professional examinations conducted by the Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys (now the Trans-Tasman IP Attorneys Board), followed by 6 years as a government appointed Board Member of that group. Greg has also been a Senior Fellow of the Law Faculty at Melbourne University, lecturing in the Master of Intellectual Property, and has also lectured at the Adelaide University Law School in intellectual property subjects. He has completed a Graduate Diploma in Science and Technology Commercialisation at Adelaide University. He also spent six years as a Government appointed member of the Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys.

Greg undertakes regular business travel throughout Asia, specifically to Japan, China and Korea, having been heavily involved in the Asian Patent Attorneys Association for 25 years, and has more recently also been travelling to Europe.

Greg also has a sporting background, having played professional basketball in Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) for the Melbourne Tigers in the late 1980’s.
