Patent and Trade Marks Attorney

Raffaele is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent and Trade Marks Attorney with over 17 years of experience in protecting intellectual property rights. He specialises in protecting inventions relating to ICT, software and engineering.

Raffaele has a background in electrical and electronic engineering, and a master’s degree in engineering specialising in information technology and telecommunications.

Raffaele began his intellectual property (IP) career in 2005 as a Technical Assistant with an IP firm in Adelaide. In 2007, he moved to Melbourne and joined a large IP firm where he specialised in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Australia and overseas. During this time, he also gained experience in assisting Australian and international clients with obtaining trade mark and design protection.

Raffaele’s background provides him with an in-depth understanding of a wide range of electronic and mechanical inventions. He also has experience in protecting computer and software implemented inventions, as well as mining, energy and medical technologies.

More recently, Raffaele has focussed on assisting local Adelaide manufacturing clients and local start-ups with protecting their IP and obtaining successful commercial outcomes from their IP.  He is a mentor at the ThincLab, a University of Adelaide based start-up accelerator, and he enjoys assisting start-ups in transforming their ideas into commercial products.

Raffaele joined Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick in 2011 and became a Principal of the firm in 2018.
