Managing your brand online – Domain names and trade mark practice on the Web

Please note that this event has already occurred. Go back to events to see upcoming events.

The internet has revolutionised the way we live our lives, from how we connect with each other, to how we do business. More people than ever are setting up online businesses, sharing information and shopping internationally – all without leaving their desks.

On the flipside, the internet has also created a considerable amount of legal risks for organisations, particularly with regards to intellectual property.

At this seminar, Russell Waters will discuss topics such as:

  • Twitter – who owns Tweets?
  • IP rights on social media: Google+, Myspace, Tumblr
  • Copyright considerations for user generated content
  • Domain name disputes
  • Top level URL’s – what’s next?
  • The use of trade marks online
  • Google AdWords – recent decisions regarding the use of competitor’s trade marks in advertising
