About the role

Are you looking to put your experience and passion for innovation to work?  Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick has the perfect opportunity for an experienced Trainee or Registered Patent Attorney to join one of Australia’s biggest Chemistry Life Sciences patent teams.

 

Your ambitious nature will see your career develop.  You will be supported with on the job training and exposure to attain business acumen and management skills.  A willingness to take on business development opportunities is essential.  Your client handling skills will ensure your success in this fast paced working environment with a variety of work from a strong client base of both local and international clients.  You will become part of a collaborative and well-resourced team of attorneys located in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

 

Strong analytical ability and good communication skills are a must along with exceptional written and verbal capabilities.  Your professional and assertive approach will ensure your success within the firm.

 

A varied workload will see you responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, advising clients in relation to patent portfolio management, and opportunities to be involved in oppositions and/or assist with advising on patent litigation.

 

 

About you

You will be degree qualified in a Biotechnology related field at Honours level and ideally, will have completed a PhD.  You may have majors in a biotechnology field such as molecular biology, immunology, microbiology and genetics which will be highly regarded.  For a near qualified attorney, full study support is available, all within an environment which offers a true work-life balance.
