Three professionals from Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick participated in the 4th Annual Patents and Trademarks Conference: Year in Review held at the InterContinental Melbourne on 19 June 2013 organised by Legalwise seminars.
POF Partner Russell Waters presented in the morning trade marks session on the topic, ‘Domain Names and Trade Mark Practice on the Web and other Technologies’. Russell’s topic covered ownership issues with web services such as Twitter, Myspace and Google+, domain theft, trade marks in metadata and other technology.
POF Senior Associate Edwin Patterson chaired the afternoon patent session. In this session, POF Partner Davin Merritt presented on Issues to Consider When Filing an Australian Design Application. Davin’s presentation provided a guide on design protection in Australia, practice tips and coverage of recent designs office decisions.
