POF Partner elected President of AIPPI

On 22 November, Andrew Massie, a Partner in Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, was elected to the office of President of the AIPPI Australian Group.

The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) is one of the world's leading international organisations dedicated to the development and improvement for the protection of intellectual property.

AIPPI is dedicated to improving and promoting protection of intellectual property by working for the expansion, development and enhancement of international and regional treaties and agreements, in addition to national intellectual property laws.

“Intellectual Property is one of any organisation’s major assets,” says Andrew. “Finding ways in which these assets can be protected internationally is critical. While IP protection is important both for individuals and organisations, it is also important for the growth and strength of the Australian economy. I am honoured that as President of AIPPI I will be in a position to support this cause in Australia.”

Prior to his election as President, Andrew spent four years as Treasurer and an additional five years as a committee member of the AIPPI Australian Group.

Andrew became a Partner at Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick in 1998 and has been practicing as a registered Patent attorney since 1992. As leader of the Engineering team, Andrew specialises in the field of Mechanical Engineering and has significant expertise in the areas of automotive and mining engineering, packaging and medical devices.
