POF hosts RACI Women in Chemistry Afternoon Tea

POF recently hosted the annual Industry Afternoon Tea for the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Women in Chemistry (WinC) Group at our offices in Melbourne. POF have been proud sponsors of the Women in Chemistry group since its revival in 2011. The Group supports women who are working, have worked or are hoping to work in the chemical sciences. They hold several regular events including dinners, seminars, networking events and discussion panels.

The Industry Afternoon Tea was attended by students, academics and industry representatives from across the scientific community. Networking over coffee and cake was followed by a talk from Dr Michelle Coles, Global Scientific Communications Manager for Royal Canin. Dr Coles shared her career story, from chemistry to veterinarian to Royal Canin Pacific, a French pet food company with subsidiaries around the world. It was a fascinating discussion and highlighted the fact that a career in chemistry really can take you anywhere.
