COVID-19 ends for IP Australia

IP Australia’s generous Streamlined COVID-19 Extensions of Time regime is coming to an end on 31 March 2021. Details of the Streamlined COVID-19 Extensions of Time can be found here.

Beyond that date, extensions of time will still be available, but only on a case-by-case basis for Applicants and Attorneys who continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Commissioner will consider the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic when determining whether an extension can be granted. A declaration explaining why applicants cannot comply with a due date will be required.

Of course, the usual extension of time provisions for patents under Section 223 are also available.
