David is an experienced IP litigator and registered patent and trade marks attorney who brings a technological understanding together with legal expertise to resolve IP disputes for Australian and international businesses.
Service Areas
With more than 20 years experience across all areas of IP, David has significant experience in the life sciences and has been involved in major patent litigation in the chemical, biotechnology, agriculture and pharmaceutical areas. He is particularly interested in plant breeder’s rights and regularly assists breeders and owners to obtain, commercialise and enforce PBRs including in infringement proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia and objection and revocation proceedings before Plants Breeder’s Rights Office.
David is also known for his work in brand protection and strategic brand management for well-known Australian and International brands and recently had the conduct of a successful appeal to the High Court of Australia for Bed Bath ‘N’ Table Pty Ltd which clarified the approach to reputation based claims in Australia.
David has been recognised as a leading practitioner in the IAM Patent 1000 2025 and WTR 1000 2026 and is one of the WTR Global Leaders 2025: Private Practice.
