Patent and Trade Marks Attorney

Alyssa’s technical speciality is in the area of medical devices and instrumentation. She is a qualified Biomedical Engineer with a strong background in electronics. She is also the practice team leader of POF’s Electronics, Physics and IT (EPIT) team.

Alyssa has over 18 years’ experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a wide range of medical-related technologies, including vascular and orthopaedic implants and devices, automated drug delivery, dental devices, women’s health, medical software and remote monitoring systems for local and international clients.

Alyssa provides client-focussed and commercially minded service to a range of start-ups, individuals and larger organisations. She also plays an active role in our Trade Mark department, advising and assisting clients in the filing and prosecution of trade mark applications in Australia and overseas.

Alyssa has delivered in-house training to some of Australia’s largest retailers and scientific organisations, which gives her a comprehensive understanding of the intellectual property (IP) challenges facing Australian businesses and research organisations.

Prior to joining Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, Alyssa worked as a Biomedical Engineer in Australia and the United States. In 2012, Alyssa was elected to the FICPI Australia Council.
