POF Seminar: Copyright implications for Social Media and Internet Service Providers (ISPs)

Please note that this event has already occurred. Go back to events to see upcoming events.

Social media is now an everyday tool for both individuals and businesses, with millions of people sharing and re-sharing text, photos and videos at the click of a button. While there are many positives to this constant sharing of information, social media has also created a considerable amount of legal risks for organisations with regard to intellectual property.

At this seminar Margaret Ryan will discuss:

  • How the law operates in relation to postings and re-postings
  • Some of the licences granted to social media organisations
  • The effect of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s proposed fair use defence
  • The Government’s proposed new regime for liability of ISP’s

The duration of the seminar will be approximately 1 hour.

About the presenter:

Margaret has over 20 years’ experience in all areas of IP law practice and lectures at Victoria University in copyright and trade marks.
