About me

Jacqui majored in Chemistry and Pharmacology during her undergraduate degree and was awarded first class Honours in organic chemistry and the Dulux Prize. During this time, she also worked as a laboratory assistant for an analytical and consulting laboratory.

Jacqui completed her PhD in organic medicinal chemistry, working on the design, preparation and pharmacological evaluation of several types of novel morphine analogues.

Following her PhD, Jacqui was offered a post-doctoral fellowship in Chemical Biology at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Germany. This work entailed the synthesis of small molecules and supramolecular architectures, and their subsequent attachment to recombinantly expressed proteins. These unique, labelled proteins find application in monitoring protein-protein interactions and enabling protein immobilisation.

Before joining Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick in 2011, Jacqui worked as a medical writer in Switzerland, which necessitated preparing, evaluating and validating medical documents and medical educational tools. This work also involved medical marketing, regulatory affairs and project management such as organising events and projects for the pharmaceutical industry.

Jacqui’s broad experience has given her good insight into academia and industry and the interface between the two. She is now undertaking training to become a qualified patent attorney through the University of Melbourne.
