About me
Leonie joined Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers in 2011. Prior to joining the Firm, Leonie worked as a teacher, editor, part-owner and operator of a small-to-medium sized manufacturing enterprise and a commercial lawyer.
Leonie has drafted government contracts, advised business and statutory bodies in aspects of corporations law and intellectual property, acted for both sides in large and small mergers and acquisitions, assisted companies to comply with their statutory obligations, including by liaising with ASIC and the ASX, and assisted start-up companies to effectively protect and grow their brand and business. Having owned and operated a business, Leonie is uniquely placed to understand the needs of owners, the legal issues faced in everyday operations, and the need for cost effective solutions.
In recent years, Leonie has been involved in trade mark protection, negotiating and drafting numerous agreements related to intellectual property and its commercialisation, including patent and trade mark licences, software development agreements, consultancy and service agreements, distribution agreements, website terms and conditions, franchise agreements, and sale agreements among others. Leonie also advises her clients regarding their obligations under the Australian Consumer Law, Personal Property Securities Act and privacy legislation.
