Intellectual Property Audits
The starting point for most IP management activities is a thorough review of all the clients’ current and potential IP assets.
It’s surprising how many organisations are not clear what IP rights they have.
We assist to identify current and potential IP assets.
Typically, we do this by interviewing IP managers, research and development people, marketing/brand managers and others.
- Subject to individual requirements, we might seek to identify:
- Existing registered IP rights in place (patents, trade marks, designs)
- Are registrations obtained in all the appropriate countries?
- Existing unregistered rights (trademarks, copyright)
- Research initiatives or plans that may be registrable
- Who else has potential rights – are appropriate licences, contracts and assignments in place?
- Are trade secrets property protected?
We assess whether the organisation has suitable policies and procedures in place to protect any emerging or existing IP, and if required, we assist in formulating such policies and procedures.
