We are proud to announce four new promotions.

Our patent and trade mark attorney firm Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick (POF) has added a new Partner and a new Senior Associate, and our IP law firm Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers (POFL) has promoted two Associates to the position of Senior

Managing Partner Graham Cowin says, “The past few years have been challenging for our clients and their service providers. This has included us, and in response our focus has been on continually upgrading our systems and processes as well as increasing our commitment to staff training and education. All of our personnel have worked hard to make this happen for the benefit of our clients, and it is great that we can recognise their achievements with these promotions.”

We are pleased to announce the following promotions to the position of Partner and Senior Associate at Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick:

Edwin Patterson BEng (Hons) PhD MIPLaw FIPTA AIMChemE – Ed joined POF in 2005.He is a chemical and materials engineer and the convener of the firm’s Resources Industry Group. He has experience in numerous technologies from simple mechanical devices through to complex industrial processes. His focus is on new developments in industrial processes, metallic and mineral processing and chemical and material engineering.

Daniel McKinley BMedSc LLB MIP FIPTA – Daniel has degrees in Medical Science and Law and works at our Sydney office. He is a member of the firm’s Engineering and Medical Technology team. His areas of specialisation include mechanical engineering, building and construction products and household and consumer products. He also specialises in medical devices including orthopaedic devices and implants, prosthetics, surgical instruments, stent grafts, drug delivery, diagnostics and audiology.

We are pleased to announce two promotions to the position of Senior Associate at Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers:

Leonie Heaton Juris Doctor BSc DipEd GradDip Ed Pub – Leonie has considerable experience in negotiating and drafting agreements and advising on intellectual property and its commercialisation. She also advises on matters arising under the Australian Consumer Law, the Personal Property Securities Act, privacy legislation and general commercial and corporate law. Having owned and operated a successful small business, Leonie understands the importance of cost-effective solutions.

David Longmuir BSc(Hons) LLB(Hons) LLM FIPTA – David works across all areas of intellectual property litigation. He has been involved in patent litigation in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors and also has experience in relation to Plant Breeder’s rights. David also provides clients with advice in relation to non-contentious intellectual property matters.

Graham joined POF in 1975, heralding the beginning of a long and successful career. He achieved his professional registration as a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney in 1978 and, as a key member of our Engineering team,  Graham honed his patent specification drafting skills working extensively with Australian-based clients.
