What is a patent attorney - Phillips Ormonce Fitzpatrick

What is a patent attorney?

In Australia, a patent attorney is a person registered by the federal government as a patent attorney.

In order to be registered as a patent attorney, a person must have tertiary qualifications in a field of technology that contains potentially patentable subject matter and qualifications in intellectual property law, along with certain experience and character requirements.

Unlike some other countries, an Australian patent attorney need not be a lawyer (although some are).
