Profile: David gained his First Class Honours in Science through the Department of Paediatrics with a project at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, focusing on the interaction between centromere protein structure and function and their role in the development of chromosomal abnormalities affecting childhood development.

Prior to joining Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers, David worked for three years as a Research Assistant in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University.

David joined Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers in 2003 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2004. David was registered as a Trade Marks Attorney in 2006 and as a Patent Attorney in 2007.

As a lawyer, he has experience in a range of litigious and non-litigious matters including proceedings relating to patent, trade marks, designs and trade practices issues. David is also involved in opposition matters before the Trade Marks Office.

In recent years, David has been involved in a number of major pieces of litigation in relation to both patents and trade marks involving complex areas of technology such as plant biotechnology and chemistry.
